Tools and Resources

Below, you will be able to download information or view the workshops from our Spring 2021 Workshops. Go to the section you are interested in and click on the link in that area.

COVID-19 has caused unique challenges for everyone, but most significantly for the most marginalized communities. OutReach's The Road Forward initiative introduces RESTORING OUR LIVES - a workshop dedicated to assessing the needs in the community regarding homelessness & housing, job loss & reemployment, food insecurity, and more. After the initial needs assessment there will be a second workshop to discuss the tools and resources available to help us move forward in 2021 and beyond. We look forward to working with you all!

Have you found yourself having more alcoholic beverages than usual over the past year? Have you felt like you lost hope and had difficulties getting the motivation to get out of bed over the past year? Were tasks that used to be simple and routine become more of a burden? Do you feel more isolated and disconnected from our community? Has the use of other substances that numb increased in isolation? You are not alone, even if it feels like it! I want to hear from you what you think would be the most helpful in moving forward to getting back to feeling more like ourselves, finding a renewed or newly found sense of purpose in spite of all the other challenges we had prior to COVID 19. Please share with us how the healing can begin and what areas it would be most beneficial for you! The intent of this workshop would be to discuss what would be the most impactful for healing in our community and then coming back together to talk about the resources, advocacy or support our community would need in order for that to occur.

During this interactive workshop, Dr. Oriel will discuss some general data regarding the disproportionate impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the LGBTQ+ community. Dr. Oriel will work with attendees to define progress made over the last five years regarding LGBTQ+ health while noting the substantial work remaining ahead to eliminate health disparities among LGBTQ+ people. Depending on participant needs, topics covered may include the informed consent vs WPATH model of hormonal therapy for gender care, best practices regarding surgical referral for trans and non-binary people, fertility options for LGBTQ+ families, and HIV prevention including PreP (pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV). Dr. Oriel hopes to work with workshop participants in order for them to best advocate for their own health care needs and in seeking a provider who is safe and supportive. No specific or individual medical advice will be given as part of this presentation.

Below are additional information resources compiled by our Workshop Leaders and/or Community Partners that may become handy as we move forward in this Post Pandemic world.
